. >>> asa shooting in san francisco-- a shooting in san francisco killed one man and sparked a chase and arrest. we are in the bayview district where we learned there are two crime scenes. >> reporter: we are here at the primary crime scene where it happened on third and up the street a couple blocks, a second crime scene where police recovered the weapon hidden in a wheel well of the vehicle. this shooting happened when the sun was out and stores were opened. so, now police are speaking with witnesses and are searching for surveillance footage from the businesses to get a better idea of what led to that shooting. we have learned the victim a 21- year-old man has died. police got the call shortly before 8:30 this morning and arrived to find the victim on the sidewalk suffering from multiple gun shot wounds. this happened on third and palu next to the check cashing business in san francisco's bayview district. the victim was transported to the hospital while police chased the suspect. >> the suspect was seen fleeing from the scene. officers in the ne

in san francisco. new at noon, janine de la vega joins us live in san francisco to explain. good afternoon, janine. >> reporter: good afternoon, tori. well, we're here at the bill graham civic auditorium. hundreds of people are waiting to get in to get services to help them. the big news is that a big tech organization is deciding to devote its time and effort to help the home les. this event is held every other month in san francisco where the needy can get services. the homeless can connect with doctors, dentists, mental health along with a variety of other resources. sf.city announced it is partnering with project correct and they represent 500 companies and they are encouraging the employees of those companies to volunteer and support the services. >> individuals will either volunteer their time in an event like this, offer job training or mentorship or getting their company involved in actually sponsoring one of the larger events. >> reporter: the home is also that the tech workers will be motivated to donate money if they want to purchas

in the city sparked a two- alarm fire that injured a san francisco firefighter this morning. kpix 5 reporter anne makovec with what happened inside that house. >> reporter: three homes damaged, a firefighter sent to the hospital, all started by a spark from what firefighters think was a marijuana growing operation. >> it was pretty obvious. >> reporter: two floors of this home on 8th avenue were filled with growing marijuana plants, the third used for drying. >> often times there's high intensity lights and often times that's what starts the fire. >> it appears that an override of the electrical system was done so most likely it's electrical in nature. >> reporter: the fire started around 8 a.m. and if anyone was home at the time, they weren't when firefighters showed up. in fact, firefighters aren't clear on who was living here at all. >> there were stacks of mail that addressed to various people. this will be an ongoing investigation. >> reporter: with so many wood framed houses nearby neighbors are glad the firefighters were able to put it ou

was 59 years of age. born here in san francisco. fell in love with his wife, kelly. they were in grade school, 10, 11 years old. he was floating the idea of retirement around before this tragic episode. we've heard a lot of stories about butch. that's what he's called out there. he was quite the prankster. he had a full permanent and was described as funny by anyone who knew him, but he took his job seriously. >> i guess if you knew him, sadly i never got the opportunity, but he always wore shorts. even on a cold day, if you saw him on the beach, he wore shorts. he worked this santa cruz. you see him and his wife and daughter. the santa cruz chief called him the most skilled investigator he had. he trained many of the police officers on the force and many of which are now higher ranking than he was. he was highly respected, had a tenacious appetite to find the truth and got the medal of valor shortly after the earthquake and some of the devastation down there in santa cruz. he was one of the first to respond and help out we're learning a

was spotted at a bus station at fourth and king in san francisco. apparently he got on the bus at 8:00 a.m. yesterday morning. we are told he was traveling with a man and got off at a bus in sparks, nevada. >> deputies are trying to confirm it was abraham. the search and rescue team has been searching for him since yesterday near his home in scotts valley and hen row cowell park. they lost it near his house. abraham fell 50 feet off a train trellis in the park. he suffered a concussion and head trauma. he was last seen wednesday night and his family said he left without notice. they believe he left his house on thursday morning. they say he is disoriented and not in the right state of mind. deputies say they are going to use surveillance video in sparks, nevada where a tipster claims he was seen getting off the bus that he got on in san francisco. now, a sheriff's spokesman said the tipster told him that abraham was carrying a multi-colored stuffed animal and they described it in detail and called the family. they described the same stuffed animal. s

too. we already have 67 degrees in oakland, 67 in livermore, 66 in san francisco. and 66 degrees in santa rosa. as we head throughout the afternoon, plenty of sunshine, just a little haze out there but not bad. tonight, likely going to see a few clouds low fog. otherwise we have some changes as we head in toward the weekend. high pressure though sliding in overhead today bringing some very mild temperatures and this really going to continue to move eastward so behind that you have this cold front that's going to pay a visit to the bay area and change our weather. temperatures in the 70s in the warmer spots. this is going to be some kind of day. almost like spring outside. looking good if you are traveling today, too. about 76 in fresno. 75 degrees in sacramento. about 66 degrees in yosemite and 69 degrees into monterey bay. around our bay we are looking at temperatures running up into the mid-70s in towards san jose. you will see about 71 in fremont. east bay temperatures also running up into the 70s and looking good into the afternoon. and
